Samovar House

This genuine Old Believers’ house boasts over one hundred samovars. The folks of Samovar House (Samovarimaja) are there to give you insights into the history of samovars and introduce their various shapes. What is the most traditional samovar shape? How big is the smallest working samovar and how big is the largest?

A tour at the house includes a cup of delicious fireweed tea with a piece of a sucre à la crème style local delicacy. You can also hear all about why and how tea is consumed by local people.

Groups can participate in various workshops, including one introducing Peipsiveere’s tea culture and the other sucre à la crème delicacy. By the way, if you happen upon your grandmother’s samovar in the attic and have no idea what to do with it, then grab it and bring it along! You will receive a personal tutorial about its foundations and functioning.
