Kick-sledge competition Kolkja Kelk

When Lake Peipus freezes over and snow sweeps across the fields, locals bring out their traditional kick sleds, travelling to neighbours, the village shop and everywhere in between. And when the ice is strong enough, we do the same — but with a friendly competitive twist. That’s how Kolkja Kelk, our kick-sledge race, was born!

As part of the Winter Celebration (Talveprääznik), the event brings together local food vendors and a lively cultural programme right on the frozen lake.

We currently have two possible dates:
– 1 February 2026, if the ice conditions allow
– If not, the event will be postponed to 1 March 2026
