When we set out to find the best onion pie on the Onion Route, Natalja Rästas also brought her delicious pies to the jury table. They were truly excellent, and as a result, Natalja now holds the very first title of Best Onion Pie Maker of the Onion Route.

Peipsimaa Präänikutalu (Gingerbread or Cookie Farm) is located in Kolkja, on Roheline Street, just a stone’s throw from the pink house of the Peipsimaa Visitor Center. In summer, the Gingerbread Farm’s shop (lavka) is open; at other times, visits are available by pre-order. On site, you’ll find beautifully decorated gingerbread and a variety of other baked goods fresh from the oven that day. If you’d like to order the world’s best onion pies—or perhaps a festive table—it’s wise to contact Natalja in advance.

It’s also worth booking a gingerbread decorating workshop, where you’ll learn the basic techniques for decorating. For groups, a pre-booked session on the history of gingerbread is available; catering can also be arranged upon request (soup, pies, samovar tea).

In summer, visitors can camp on the spacious grounds of Gingerbread Farm and enjoy a sauna in the evening.
